And Nobody Dies

If you’d told me last year that I’d be releasing an EP in 2023, that I’d be doing it through one of the most incredible indie labels, and I’d be producing most of it myself - I would have laughed. Probably because at that point, beyond the idea of even being signed to a label, I didn’t think I had the ability to carry a song through to the end of the line as a producer. Well, here we are.

‘And Nobody Dies’ is about embracing vulnerability. It’s about welcoming discomfort. It’s facing down my demons. It’s coming to terms with all that’s happened and learning that after it all, I’m still here. Many of these songs were written through difficulty and pain, and just putting them out into the world felt like the ultimate way to put it in the past and to acknowledge the work I’d done to overcome it all.

The night before the release I gathered some close friends together, brought them into the studio, and played the songs intimately with them around the piano singing along. We cried, we processed, we talked about impact, intention, and grief. We hugged, we laughed, and - as I blasted the final song over the studio monitors (The Fault Was Yours, the ultimate end-of-the-movie soundtrack btw) - we celebrated.

And now it’s out there for you to enjoy, to feel your way through, and - hopefully - to feel more understood. I wrote this for us.
